Four Great Foods to go with Beau's Lug Tread Lagered Ale
Beau's All Natural Lug Tread Lagered AleBeau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale is like no other beer I’ve ever tasted.  The beer was named after the tracks a farm tractor leaves in the mud, and one sip of Beau’s Lug Tread can transport you to that field.  It’s easy to imagine sitting down at a farmhouse table, and enjoying this beer after a hard day’s work.  The flavours from the chewy malts that jump out of me in this organic beer are hay and breakfast cereal.  The finish is crisp and refreshing which is perfect after a hot day of working in the sun.

Roast Chicken and Lagered Ale

Chicken is a staple on a farmhouse, and pairing it with Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale would make for an excellent match.  Chicken is rather neutral, but its sweet flavours from roasting can be crushed by heavier beers.  Beau’s is not only light enough to complement those sweet flavours, the rich malty flavours of the beer simply dance with the crisp and delicious roasted skin bringing out the best in both the beer and the chicken.

Pan Fried Corn Meal Crusted Pickerel and Lagered Ale

We tried this recipe for Pan Fried Corn Meal Crusted Pickerel last summer, and Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale went phenomenally well with the dish.  Pickerel is a delicate fish, and Beau’s Lug Tread Ale matches the fish in weight in that it won’t bully it off of your palate.  Instead, this refreshing beer cuts through the corn meal crust and draws out the best flavours of the fish.  The whole dish comes full circle at the end as the crisp flavours of the beer work beautifully with the tart lemon flavours used in the sauce.

Grilled Salmon and Lagered Ale

The refreshing nature of Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale was meant to be enjoyed barbecuing in the hot sun.  As this is a lighter beer, it should be matched with lighter fare, and Salmon while rich, is still delicate enough to be dominated by heavier beers.  Beau’s Lug Tread Ale matches the weight of the Salmon, while its crisp flavours cut through the richness of the flesh.  Furthermore, the subtle bitterness of the hops will go nicely with the charring of the Salmon on the grill.

Vegetable Sandwiches and Lagered Ale

My Grandfather plowing his fields with ChampOn a personal note, Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale brought me back to a time when I was growing up on my Grandfather’s farm in the late 70’s (as seen to the right).  One of his favourite meals at lunch time was fresh vegetables from the garden such as tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and zucchini sliced thin, and enjoyed on whole wheat toast with a slice of cheese and a touch of mayonnaise.  If he were alive today, how I would love to sit down with him today for lunch and enjoy this sandwich with a bottle of Beau’s Lug Tread.  The bready flavours of this beer will complement the toast, while the crisp flavours will cut right through the mayonnaise and cheese cleansing the palate.  The beer is subtle, so it won’t overwhelm the fresh but delicate vegetable flavours.

Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale does something all great beers should do.  Through its unique flavours and aromas, it allows you to forget all your troubles and transport you to another place and time.
